What We Collect & Why

Comments & Contact Forms

When you leave a comment or use a contact form, we collect the information you provide (such as name, email, comment), plus your IP address and browser user agent to help with spam prevention.

Newsletter Subscriptions

If you subscribe to the Paint by Code newsletter (via Ghost’s built-in functionality), only your email address is stored. That data is used solely to deliver content you’ve opted in to receive.

Analytics & Site Usage

To gain insights into site performance while maintaining privacy, we use Plausible Analytics, a GDPR‑compliant analytics provider that does not use cookies or collect personal data. It gives anonymized, aggregated metrics to help improve user experience.

Security & Performance

This site is protected by Cloudflare, which helps prevent malicious traffic and enhances performance. Basic connection metadata (e.g. IP addresses) may be processed to support security and caching functions, but is not used for tracking individuals.

Cookies & Embedded Content

We strive to minimize use of cookies. Ghost and Cloudflare may set essential cookies for functionality and security, but no tracking or third-party cookies are used. Embedded content (e.g. videos or tweets) may set their own cookies depending on the provider's policies—see their respective privacy statements.

Third-Party Services Overview

We partner with a few trusted external services:

• Ghost – the platform used to host and operate the blog and newsletter.
• Plausible Analytics – for usage metrics and insights.
• Cloudflare – for site security, availability, and performance.

No personal data is sold or shared with third parties except where required by law. Data handled by these providers is limited to the minimum required to deliver their services to you.

How Long We Retain Data

• Comments & Metadata stay indefinitely, helping with spam filtering and moderation.
• Newsletter Subscriptions are retained until you unsubscribe.
• Security logs or Cloudflare metadata may be retained per their policies to support site integrity.
